According to Live Science, science is a systematic and logical approach to discovering how things in the universe work. There are actually different branches of science and we learn some of them in school including biology, physics, and chemistry. But in this article, we are going to focus on one of the branches of science which is chemistry. We are going to know why we should study chemistry and how we could effectively study chemistry.

If you are looking for a Chemistry tuition centre for A’ Levels, you can try Advo Education Centre that offers quality Chemistry tuition. UW-La Crosse will tell us why we should study chemistry. Let us read in their article below.

Chemistry is an incredibly fascinating field of study. Because it is so fundamental to our world, chemistry plays a role in everyone’s lives and touches almost every aspect of our existence in some way. Chemistry is essential for meeting our basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, health, energy, and clean air, water, and soil. Chemical technologies enrich our quality of life in numerous ways by providing new solutions to problems in health, materials, and energy usage. Thus, studying chemistry is useful in preparing us for the real world.

Chemistry is often referred to as the central science because it joins together physics and mathematics, biology and medicine, and the earth and environmental sciences. Knowledge of the nature of chemicals and chemical processes therefore provides insights into a variety of physical and biological phenomena. Knowing something about chemistry is worthwhile because it provides an excellent basis for understanding the physical universe we live in. For better or for worse, everything is chemical! One important reason of studying chemistry mentioned above is the wide variety of useful, interesting and rewarding careers that one can have. According to what is mentioned above, the possible careers are under the fields of industry, education, or public service. Now Valerie Strauss is also going to tell us why students should take chemistry classes.

Yes, students should take chemistry. Here’s why

I graduated in chemical engineering a couple years ago, and did rather well in high school chemistry, scoring a 5 on the AP exam without any major troubles. You may argue that I may be a little biased about the importance of chemistry. However, having thought about,  and having tutored a number of indifferent students on the subject, I feel that the combination of my recent exposure to the travesty that is our public school system and my firsthand experience of students’ apathy towards subjects they are forced to take give me some unique insight on this article.

I really took issue with [David Bernstein’s] reasoning as to why subjects such as chemistry are better left omitted by the obviously disinterested. I am sympathetic to his goals of need-based practical learning, and I understand his perspective on the need for school reform (though I am sure I disagree on the particulars). However, what was conspicuously absent from the article was the following explanation of why students should take chemistry. Read more here.

The statement above was actually from someone who graduated from chemical engineering and basically, his point is that basic knowledge of chemistry could actually do or save us a lot of things. Now, the next thing we should know about is how we should study chemistry. Go Conqr is going to tell us more about this.

How to Study Chemistry: The 5 Elements of Success

Today we are continuing our popular blog series “How to Study …” focusing on “How to Study Chemistry”. In today’s post we will help you to discover tips and techniques to help you improve your Chemistry results. Don’t forget to have a look at our previous issues on how to study Mathematics, History, and Biology.

Chemistry is a subject that is often studied alongside Physics. However, it is important to remember that the two subjects are very different. With this in mind, we have distinguished and identified the best methods and study techniques for each.

How to Study Chemistry

#1: Read The Material Before Going To Class

The method known as ‘Flipped Classroom’ or ‘Class Reversed’ is a growing trend in all subjects, including science. However, its effect in learning Chemistry can be seen twofold. The technique encourages students to study the lesson before going to class. This concept familiarises the student with the subject content making the class much easier to follow. Students can then consolidate that knowledge and use class time to raise important questions. Read more here.

There are five steps mentioned above and one of the most important is understanding rather than memorizing. Understanding concepts will make you better understand complicated chemistry better. Having a degree related to chemistry is nice but learning even just the basics would already be a big help for us in different aspects. It may be difficult but it actually would really be a big help.
